Time has flown since Henley handed me the keys to my new home. On handover day I was well aware that there was still some works that Henley still needed to complete – that’s pretty normal and it’s likely to be something most builders do. After all, when it’s relatively minor works to be completed, it’s better for everyone for you to move in.
In my case, fast forward 6 months and Henley still has work yet to be completed. Do you think this is acceptable?
Is this OK?
If you read my post-handover 3 month reportI told you that my $10,000 air conditioner was not yet connected. That remains the case at the time of publication.
I’d also mentioned there was an issue with a faulty sink in the powder room. Henley have still not fixed it.
There was also the issue of incorrectly installed chrome taps instead of matte black. Henley admitted the mistake in December 2022 but are yet to rectify the problem.
But wait, there's more!
Then there have been the ongoing drainage problems I wrote about in August. I’ll have plenty more to say about this issue in a future post but rest assured, Henley have still not properly addressed the problem. Thankfully I have read my contract very well and I’m sure I have legal means to have it rectified if required.

Another issue I’ve been dealing with is the wooden beading (pictured) is starting to fall off in several places. If you look at the photo, you will see that it’s merely stapled to the skirting board so it shouldn’t surprise Henley that it’s falling off.
Overall, I remain frustrated with Henley. My site supervisor wants to do avoid doing anything at all. Henley’s construction manager is incompetent – He cannot read Henley’s own engineering drawings.
